Chocolate Chia Mousse

You won’t believe this chocolate mousse is vegan and packed with fibres, proteins and nutrients! I present the chocolate chia mousse, a delicious snack for those moments you are craving chocolate or when you want chocolate for breakfast (who doesn’t?).

Bonus, chia seeds is a complete protein (contains all 9 essential ammonia acids) and one serving of this mousse will give you 9g of protein, 10g fibre and 9g fats (of which 3.7g omega-3 and 2.7g omega-6).

Chocolate Chia Mousse - serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dairy free milk (I used organic unsweetened soya milk)

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 45g melted 70% dark chocolate (approximately 8 squares) OR 1 heaped tbsp of cacao powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender.

  2. Blend at high speed for 1min until the texture is smooth and creamy

  3. Transfer into 2 glass jars and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight

  4. Optional top with fresh berries, coconut yogurt, cacao nibs, dark chocolate shavings, coconut flakes
