Immunity Shots (Better Than Store-Bought)
Concentrated ginger and lemon immunity shots are a natural and easy way to boost your immune system and can help you fight a cold efficiently. They’ve become popular in juice bars and health stores due to their anti-oxidants, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties.
However, these little power houses can get pretty expensive, especially if you use them regularly during the winter months or when you’re getting a cold or flu. So I came up with this super easy recipe that also includes a few of my other favourite flu-fighters - namely the glorious garlic and terrific turmeric.
This recipe is super simple, you only need a blender and a mesh strainer, that’s it! No need for a fancy juicer.
Immunity Shot (serves 2):
In a blender mix together:
Juice of 2 - 3 lemons
2 fresh garlic cloves
1/4 cup fresh ginger root (washed peeled and roughly chopped)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp honey (optional)
1 pinch black pepper
Filter the mixture with a mesh strainer into a glass. Divide into 2 equal servings. Drink as a shot in the morning when you feel under the weather or regularly through winter. Keep in the fridge in a sealed glass bottle for up to 3 days.
The fiery sensation of this health shot can be surprising at first, but you can adjust to your taste buds the ginger and garlic content - I personally love the warming sensation of ginger. You can always drink a little water afterwards.
